Every country has outstanding individuals who are leaders in their respective fields and who have shown exemplary perception, knowledge and dedication in these endeavors. They elevate the qualities of courage, character and wisdom to new levels while making advances that benefit global understanding of any particular domain.
With this in mind, Henry Ho, founder of the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences AIGS) envisioned creating a series of stories about people who have had or continue to have an impact on the gem and jewelry industry. These individuals are Game Changers---they are true Gem Legends & Luminaries.
Barbara Wheat, President of the Asia Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) and VP of International Relations and Business Development of the Ho Group, is undertaking the task of producing this series of articles on these Legends & Luminaries. "Our goal is to recognize the contribution and leadership of these remarkable individuals in bringing positive change to the gem and jewelry industry. Thanks to funding from the AIGS and our team of talented gem and jewelry journalists, we are bringing their stories to a wider audience."
Kennedy Ho, Chairman of the AIGS: "As an educational institution, the role of AIGS is to share with the younger generation the legacy and lessons from these industry leaders. Selected stories of these inspirational Legends & Luminaries will eventually be collated into a book once the project is completed. The business of gems and jewelry is very much people-oriented, but you cannot go out and buy a book on the human gems that have made our industry what it is today. Since the industry is so diverse, we welcome our readers to nominate people they know who are also Legends & Luminaries, for possible inclusion in this series."
The current profiles in Gem Legends & Luminaries have been selected by a committee of industry experts based on nominations received. This is a work in progress and many more Game Changers who have been selected will be featured in the future.
